2001 Yamaha 200 HP HPDI

Does anyone have any information about the 2001 model year Yamaha 200 hp HPDI? I heard that some of the model years had powerhead problems. <br /><br />Does anyone know of any good websites that have non biased reviews of somewhat older outboards? <br /><br />Please respond with the good, bad and ugly.<br /><br />Thanks

the only powerhead problems i came across were from poor run in or poor maintenance. find yourself a good yamaha tech and stick with him.<br />the hpdi is not an engine you can neglect.

there were and are some issues. some engines have a tendancy to foul plugs if run in the 1100-1500 RPM range for extended trolling times. if used for much trolling the O2 sensor will need to be cleaned at 75 hour intravels. the maint MUST not be done in a splatter gun fashion. the maint on that motor is mandatory. if ya wait till it breaks its way broke. other than that so far they have held up ok.
