Replace starter motor fuse on 2003 Suz 4-stroke

A friend hooked up the battery reversing the correct polarities, and now the starter motor does not work. I am told there is a spare fuse stored in the engine, but I cannot find the original fuse or the spare so that I can replace the broken fuse and use the electric starter again. The motor is fine, i.e. the pull cord works, and the battery is fine, too. Thanks for any assistance in locating the fuses. Why doesn't the manual that comes with the motor have a map of the motor in it?

it should have. I am not familiar with your motor and you failed to post the size but usually its on the wire leads in a little plastic case or in the fuse box itself depending on year and HP. reread the owners manual. its in there some place

Wow, thanks for the quick response! It is a 15hp motor. I have reread the manual...and the only mention of a fuse in the electric starter model is a schematic diagram, which I cannot translate into what the engine actually looks like...the fuse is located between the starter motor relay and the W/R, which in turn is next to the engine start switch. But I cannot find the fuse or fuse box when I inspect the actual engine. Could you advise me what color, size, shape the fuse box might be, and where geographically the fuse box might sit, as opposed to schematically? Would I have to remove anything to be able to locate the fuse box?

usually the tiny mites have a rubber plug type holder and the spare will be attached to the wire nearby. its usually a little plastic part about 1" long and about the size of a pencil. unless they have changed from SFE fuses to the ATC style. can you find the fuse holder? it will be located near the battery + terminal on the engine usually within a few inches.

Thanks, Rodbolt. The fuse is a 30 amp atm. It is dead low tide and I'm at my computer at home, so I can't check now, but I'll head out to the skiff a little later, armed with your advice.
