I wanted a dinghy for my 25ft bayliner, I'm thinking about going to a fully inflatable (not hard bottom) so I can deflate it when not in use, so I can get a bigger inflatable. I dont have much room on my swim platform. I would probably use it a lot, just taking the kids out or getting to shore when we find a nice beach.

Is Zodiac, the brand name, worth the extra money?
If at sea, would it be hard to get a 12ft inflatable inflated and motor mounted?

Is there a generic inflatable thats of good construction / bad construction?

is hardbottom easy to set up, worth the extra?

for outboards, how heavy are they? say 15 to 25 hp?

12' inflatable for a 25' boat?

I'm grinning, just can't help it.

I don't have anything worthwhile to add to this post or your other one, so I'm leaving. Hope someone has good advice.

I really can't see that working out with a MOTOR that big  and could see diveing for the motor happen pretty easy

In my travels i see a lot of people doing it with 2 to 4 hp motors that are easy to handle on small dinks

As for as blowing it up everytime its a PITA to do even with a SKI TUBE i cant see getting a 12'to fold into anything easy to handle on a 25' boat

tommays

Zodiac is a good boat and they make a model called a fast roller that has an inflatible floor.Your talking about a 100 lb boat in a 12 footer. Will be tough to get inflated while it is on your boat because you need almost as much room to lay it out to inflate.Forget about hard floors.Very tough to put together on a dock, nearly impossible to do on a deck of a 25ft boat.As far as motors are concerned, anything 10hp and up will start at about 80 lbs. This is not an easy task while out on the water.I am well above average strength and I dont look forward to putting my 9.9hp on my zodiac.I have a 2hp which is a one hander as far as weight is concerned and a 4 hp which I would say is about the limit for an average strength person to handle easily.Hope this helps!!

I'm thinking it'll be harder to find a smaller boat with a roll-up floor, but the air floor ones are out there.
I have a 9'6" with a 49 lb. motor (Mcculoch 7.5HP), and I wouldn't want to haul it out and blow it up from on board...p.i.t.a.
I'd look for a wee one and swim platform it....
