Fuel additive carb cleaner for outboards

This may be a stupid question, but can you use an additive to the fuel of an outboard that will clean the carbs, much like you would with an automobile? If so, any particular brand that works?<br /><br />Thanks for the help!

A carb cleaner for autos will work on the 4 stroke outboards.Not recomended for the 2 strokes.

Sea Foam is a great product. It not only cleans your engine, it removes moisture from the fuel. It is an additive, but not a replacement for mixing your oil. Highley recommended.....

Jaxsun some auto cleaner will take out the oil out of the fuel!

where does the oil go?...what about injected motors?...would "gumout" brand carb cleaner be one of the evil ones?

run snake oil, buy a rebuild.<br /> keeps me right busy. plus any snake oil treated fuel i will pump and toss/ why you wanna run snake oils anyway ?

Use additives to prevent carbon buildup not for carbs. Carbs get gummed-up due to the boat sitting unused. Fuel in the carbs evaporates leaving deposits. Empty the carbs for storage and save your money on additives.
