whats up with my suzuki?

hello all<br /><br />can anyone help me<br />i have a suzuki dt20 2 stroke outboard and it doesnt seem to run idle very nicely.<br /><br />sometimes it sounds as if she wants to cut out and then it trows some smoke out the exaust<br />i did check and renewed the plugs ( NGK spark plug-BR7HS.)<br />i am new to this so please help me.<br />suzuki DT20 02003 serial nummer 231514<br />its grey in color and do wonder about what the year is of this engine<br />Great site !!!!!<br />thank you all<br /><br />ron

I think you should start with a compression check. Do you have a compression tester? The "puf" of smoke bothers me. Maybe rings?

sounds like a lean sneeze, can be caused by improper carb sync,improper air/fuel mix adjustment or a dirty carb or air leak. where is the smoke puffing from ?

it was from the back of the exaust.<br />but i changed the air flow screw and it run fine since untill today<br />i had her out today and suddenly after 2 hours running idle it wouldnt go fast when i gave it more trottle as if it didnt get petrol<br />when i opened trottle thinking i could clear maybe any possible dirt is sounded as if it was smothering .i also noticed black oil at the exaust.what could that mean?<br /><br /><br />thank you
