Bow lift and props

Hi, again!
On my Yamaha F115 I have a standard steel prop (black series). I have a feeling that the bow should be lifted a bit more than what is possible now. Could it be an idea to try a new prop? More trim is useless.

Besides: What is the correct term when a boat have too low bow? Transferred directly from Norwegian I would say "Overplaning", but I don't think that's the corect term.

I would call that plowing, Neptun.

I would exhaust loading and rigging options before I started messing with the prop.

Nice Yamarin! What is the maximum speed? I have a White Shark 175 and the max. speed is 38 miles - measured by GPS. Boat weight: 600 kg. I'm a bit disappointed - had expected to reach 41-42 miles. I have a K-19 black steel prop, and I feel (as I said earlier) that I have to less bow lift.

Re: Bow lift and props

Hi,
With Yamaha F115 and 13 x 19 Black Stell prop my boat reach 38 knots. With Yamaha F150 it is about 47 knots. Not so good here in Sweden to have a boat that goes over 35 knots usually because above that speed the insurance cost inrease rather much. My small boat (19 ft) with Yamaha F115 and my max speed of 38 knots is rather expensive to insure. But that is the way it is (fast speed tend to increase risk of accident and in the end an insurance case).

Here is a picture of Yamarin 5820 and Yamaha 150 hp (HPDI) and a nice bow lift:

Here is a video also with the 150 hp outboard on a Yamarin 5820 (as You can see it rides high on the water and it is a real pleasure to ride in this boat, I have used mine for 3 seasons): Link

Re: Bow lift and props

Thanks for the answers so far.
I have one more question regarding to my bow-lift issue. Could it be that the mounting height on the transom causes the problem? I could adjust the engine down one position. Any ideas?
