I have an old Sovereign Gale 40 HP. model 40DE17B.
Not sure of the year, but think it is in the 1960's
I need brushes for the starter, which is a Delco Remy Model 1113519.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Starter brush kits should be readily available on the aftermarket from any dealer. Your Gale is just a rebadged Johnson 40.

Try your local NAPA auto parts store...If they have them in Canada...not sure. They carry alot of the Johnson/Evinrude parts.

Well thanks FridaysMarine, I went to the local Johnson dealer and told them you said that starter brush kits should be readily available on the aftermarket from any dealer and that my Gale is just a rebadged Johnson 40. They laughed me outa the store.
Then I took Bill H's advice and went to a NAPA place, well it is really Lordco, but we do have NAPA in Canada. They started to look but they can't find out till Tuesday as it is a Holiday up here.
I thank you guys for the help, I am just about ready to offer a finders fee for this though.
Butche
...............................................
close enough!

Hey Bill, What make of starter is on your 58 Johnston? Maybe I will tell them I want brushes for a 58 Johnston 35 HP, worth a try and see what they look like.
They don't like going through all the brushes they have so I can see what they look like.
Butch
................................................
Close enough!

Finally did what I should have done, found some brushes that were close enough and filed and fitted them to work.
Turns it over real good!
Butche
.................................................
Close enough
