Does anybody know of a site where I can find the year of an old Sears "Waterwitch" outboard.

It is believed to be a 3 1/2 HP, and shows the model# of "61-GL", located on the engine.

Thanks... ...Bob in Calif...

Bob the only ones that I have seen were the ones with gas tanks that look like torpedoes they were from 1936

Thanks for the quick response Phil.

I was figgured it is was from somewhere in the 30's and it does have the double torpedo type gas tank. It remindes something from the "Flash Gordon" era.

...Thanks again... ...Bob in Calif...

Hi Bob
You need a copy of Peter Hunns, Old Outboard book. This book will give a ton of info on early outboards. It is a must for anyone tinkering with these gems. You can probably find a copy at the library. Or you can purchess a copy from a book store. I have seen places on-line selling them as well. It have been several years since I last read it. This book deals a lot with the history of the manufactures and identification of the models. It touches on some of the interesting mechanical developments over the years. It also has some basic operating data. It is not a repair manual, So it is fun reading. I should follow my own advice a buy a copy for myself.
