Hi Paul
You have a 1962 model. As you probably know this is just another OMC. It was a 5hp. I don't Know where you would find a prop of a different pitch. Why not ask around at your local prop shop,or some racing clubs. Is electric racing what you have in mind?

Hi Paul
O.M.C. is Outboard Motor Corp. They made Johnson,Evinrude,Gale and some other stuff. The Gail division made and sold motors to private brands ie Sea king, western flyer,Sea flyer, bucconeer,Brooklure,Seabee, the list goes on. Basicly what you have left of your motor is the same as a CD model Johnson. The problem is with the prop selection. There is not a lot of choice available as to pitch (gearing). There are tons of props to be had, just is they are all the same. This is where the prop shop or racing club my be able to help. The prop shop may be able to re-pitch a prop for you. There are racing clubs that deal in this type of electric conversion for their sport. I am sure you could gleen an emence amount of info from them, and wind up with a dandy fishin motor. The trouble is I am sure they will try to infect you to join them. Might be fun.

Probably the golfcart motor is 2 or 3 hp. Probably at about 3,000 rpm.
while there is lots of torque beginning at 0 rpm as the rpm goes up torque goes down.I think your running out of rpm.The Original motor max rpm was 4,000 to 4,500.
Same difference unless you increase rpm you need more pitch.
There is a chance a Evinrude/ Johnson 7.5 prop 55-58 can be made to fit .8 1/2" pitch instead of 7 1/4".I believe some of those 7.5 may use the same leg/gearcase
as the 5 and 5.5.

Be careful what you wish for .... seriously!

I'd rather just answer the same question over and over if old posts getting restarted is the alternative.
