I have a Sea King 7hp motor. I was wanting to know if it is a 2 cycle engine and if so what is the oil/gas ratio. Also, is there anyway to purchase a manual still?

Re: Sea King 7hp

It is surely a 2 stroke, mb.

We need to know if it is air cooled or water cooled and its age before we can recommend a fuel mix.

Air cooled engines have many thin fins on the cylinder and usually require chainsaw oil in a 24:1 mix.

Older (before 1964) water cooled engines usually use a 24:1 mix with outboard, TC-W3 certified, oil. Newer water cooled engines use a 50:1 mix with the TC-W3 oil.

Good luck. :)

Can you also help me find where to identify the year of the motor? I know it's old :)but can't find any kind of date on the motor.

We need the model (NOT serial) number, mb. It should be on a plate attached to the mounting clamp.

Or, does it have one sparkplug or two? The Clintons have one, the Gales and Chryslers would have two. The Clinton is air cooled, the others are water cooled. Sea King was just a badge. They were made by different companies at different times. The only 7Hp Sea King that I know for sure of was the Clinton. I happen to have one. It has a thin ivory colored plastic hood with a goldish-brown bottom. You might be able to get carb parts from a lawnmower dealer. I think they're Tillotsons.
