I have an early 80s Sears Gamefisher 9.9hp that runs well but I have to constantly pump the primer bulb on the gas tank to keep it running. Any suggestions?

Thanks, John

Make sure the vent on the gas tank is working right or replace the hose and bulb before you tinker with the motor. If thats not it then check the fuel filter.Stick with the simple stuff first.Charlie

when the engine is running should the vent be open or closed?

On most portable tanks there is a small screw in the middle of the fuel gage that needs to me opened to vent.Charlie

Work from the tank to the carb checking for air leaks, pinched lines, etc. Connections are the most common cause of air leaks. My experience is that fuel pumps are seldom the problem unless they've gotten gummed up from sitting too long and then just running them for a while will frequently dissolve the gummy stuff.
