idles great, forward fast is great, problem is just when it comes off of idle and shifting to forward and when it is put into reverse, it doesnt always climb in rpm as well as it should. sometimes it wants to die in reverse. doesnt die when it is forward and cruising. always fresh gas and oil...

I am going to use a tach from a friend. he never used it and it came with his motor. want to check my idle speeds and running speeds/rpms. there is a dial on the back that goes from 1 (I believe), all the way up to 6. is this for the number of cylinders of the motor? thanks for any help.

upon taking apart the lower unit housing, the water tube guide hold down bolt that screws into impeller housing fell out of the lower unit housing. threads are fine. screws in fine. should I put thread sealant on it, or torque it down. thanks.
