    I did find out the wrong plugs were in it. Have since installed champion L86Cs, but no change, nice blue spark when plug is grounded on block, but no start, even with fuel in cylinders. If the reeds are stuck closed, could that stop air from getting in the cylinders?

    Should I gap the plugs to 7/16" and see if it still jumps the gap?

    Yes spark is good, its jumping the gap on the plugs and on the tester. Only reason i jumped to reeds was i believe the spark is adequate

    I have a 78-80 mariner 40hp. Is turning that 40hp in 50hp as easy as swapping carbs? Or is there more work involved?

    Pressure gauge

    Would anyone know how to install a water pressure gauge on a mercury xr4 150 that does not currently have one? It runs at hot at around 200 degrees sometimes and I would like to check water pressures to see if they look good maybe my sensors or temp gauge is bad or off.

    Overheating

    Hello! I have an 89 mercury xr4 150 on a 17.5 fish n ski and it runs hot, temp gauge indicates around 200-225 degrees at idle and wide open. I just rebuilt the water pump and it works, tell tale has steady flow of water that is warm, thermostats replaced last fall as well. What else can I check...

    Cavitation problem

    Hello! I have an 89 forester with a xr4 on the back, when I get up to speed I have issues with cavitation around 45 mph, any fixes for this? Outboard has a cavitation plate on it, and I trim it up as I gain speed. Do i need trim tabs or??
