    Can someone tell me if my old 18 'rude is supposed to have any safety locks like my '75 9.9? The nine-nine cannot be pulled when in gear and the throttle cannot be advance beyond start when in neutral.     Starts easy and goes like heck!!

    Pulled a real boner the other day with my "new" 1961 Evinrude 18. I was sitting out in the lake. Gave it a tug and it did not start.
