I fear that I may have to pull the power head to replace a water pump impeller on my 1956 Evinrude 10hp.
I also think I heard some say they have cut shaft and then clamped it back together? Sounds kinda hokey, but before I tear into this thing I need to know, so I can have all the parts here...

Am I gonna be ok trollin with a 70's 9.5 hp on my 14 Jon? I thought I saw somewhere that it isnt really made for trolling. I just want to know if I should sell it and get a 4 or something.
The 9.5 has killer low idle and seems like it may do the job. I have less than $100...
I got this boat with this 1150 Merc Outboard in this exact condition and I dont know any history at all on it, but wondering if I can start it for a couple of seconds to see if it at least runs ? Or am I going to the forbidden zone ?

I just picked this up a few days ago. It was going to go to dump, but the guy hauled it home to put it on CL and make a few bucks..lucky me.
Dont have a lick of history on it, or know condition of outboard. The lower end is missing, but the nuts and washers that held it were in the transom well...
