Changing the propshaft on a 1983 60 hp 2cyl evinrude.
I have the carrier out.
My question is can the prop shaft be removed without dropping the lower unit?
There are two large snap rings inside which I need to get a good pair of snap ring pliers to remove.
Anything else I should while I have it...
Checked my prop slippage and comes out to about 31% is that good or bad seems like a lot to me. It's a 60hp top speed is 26 and the engine turns 5800 with a 11-3/4X17 prop. This was with 3 people in a 1,000 LBS boat. About 600 LBS.

Ran into a pile of rocks yesterday and busted the prop and took some good chunks out of the bottom of the skeg. I got a new prop but what should I do about the skeg?? It's a 1983 60hp

I have a 60hp that I rebuilt because previous to my ownership it sucked up a piece of washer and ruined a piston. Is this common to happen again why is there not a air filter or at least a screen on the air box? Any suggestions

Have a new new boat with yamaha 60 4 stroke and factory prop of 11-3/4X13 and WOT RPM is only 3800 what could be wrong. The prop does have a little damage to the tips of the blades but nothing severe.

I'm not really sure how well these two strokes are suppose to idle but my new rebuild a 2cyl 60hp is a littile at idle. the plugs look clean however I do have the 25:1 fuel mixture for break in. It runs great above idle though.

I have a 1983 60hp evinrude and the tach stops at 2K I have it on the 6P position and hooked to the yellow stator wire on the terminal block. Any Ideas are apperciated. It's a teleflex tach.
