    Starter problems

Sorry, trying to do this while working 70 hours a week. They are the intake port covers.

    Starter problems

Yesterday when I removed the exhaust Port covers I saw a very small amount of clear liquid that did not seem to mix with the residual engine exhaust residue in the port. They were very small drops. And only a bit. I assumed it was water. Upon inspection late last night I thought it may have...

    Starter problems

No water out of either holes. Oil looked clear not milky. The motor has four covers. I took two of them off one upper one lower. The other side would involve me removing the generator

    Starter problems

I just pumped a bit more oil in from the bottom of the gear paint case. No water came out the top. I also just removed the exhaust port covers. Looks like there could be a small amount of water at the bottom of the exhaust port plenum. I can see the crank and the rods. They still appear to look...

    Starter problems

I aligned them using a dental pic to ensure they were flush and then torqued them to spec.

    Starter problems

I recently rebuilt a 1960 75 horsepower Johnson super seahorse. Pistons rings seals gaskets. Everything. Started it up a few weeks ago for the first time but I did not have time to adjust the carburetor. Ran for about 10 minutes. Came back today to start it and the starter wouldn't turn the...

    Slow starter turnover

I have a Johnson 1960 75 horsepower outboard. I rebuilt the entire engine over the winter. Pistons rings gasket seals etc. Started it up a couple of weeks ago and it seemed to be okay although I didn't have time to adjust the carburetors. I went to start it up today and the starter doesn't seem...

1960 Johnson 75hp. Backfired; stripped head threads for plug

I did do that prior. They were lined up first. Then the distributor. Sorry I didn't add that previously.

1960 Johnson 75hp. Backfired; stripped head threads for plug

After further inspection I noticed that the boss marks on the distributor bracket and magneto pulley weren't exactly lined up. I had indexed the bosses by looking at 90° to the distributor bracket arm. I believe I needed to look at 90° to the distributor itself. When I changed my point of...

1960 Johnson 75hp. Backfired; stripped head threads for plug

I just entirely rebuilt a 1960 Johnson 75 horsepower super seahorse. I tried starting it today. It started almost immediately but wouldn't continue to run. I primed the one bulb one more time and when I turned the engine over it backfired and strip the threads in the head where the one of the...

    1960 Johnson 75 ho

I was just wondering what normal compression is for this motor. I just overhauled the engine and ran a compression check. It's only about 75 lb on all cylinders. I don't know if it makes a difference but it's below freezing up here today and the engine didn't turn over real fast.

    1960 super seahorse 75hp color

Im Looking for the original color for the shroud and the lower end. Renovating the motor but I have seen varying color schemes in photos: off white, taupe, even light gray. Not sure which is original.

1960 Johnson Super seahorse 75 horsepower

Does anybody have any idea where I can have my 1961 super seahorse 75 horsepower outboard restored? I had a buddy looking at it who says the motor is in good shape, has good compression, and is complete. I live in central lower Michigan and would like to see if I could get it rebuilt back to...
