I have a 1967 Mercury inline 6 95HP. 950SS. yes it has the thuderbolt ignition system.
It is mounted to a 1967 Glastron V172 runabout. 17' boat. About 1000lbs.
I can not get the boat over 30mph or over 4000RPM's. Red line for this engine should be around 5000RPM

I am loooking for some wiring diagrams for a 1984 OMC 3.8 229 engine.
-I am getting power to the ignition coil all the time and need to figure out what I have hooked up wrong.

Do I need to remove the rubber boot from the back of the boat to get the entire outdrive assembly removed from the engine? I have a 3.8L 229 engine that needs to be replaced.
I have a 1983 3.8 litre OMC engine that has a cracked block.
Is their any reason I couldn't pull a car long block and use the OMC intake and exhaust?
Is anything different?

My 1974 140 mercruiser broke a trim hose in the water last night. I know how to replace the hose but do I need to worry about getting the water out of the lines? Do I need to somehow bleed the system after installing hose?
I also have had a small leak coming out of the pump somwhere for awhile...
