Ok guys. I cant see the plate that shows the max HP for my boat. So I looked online and found this calculation
(Boat length X Beam X 2) -90 = Max HP
So put in my boat: '86 sea ray monocot 207 (20')
(20X8X2)-90=230HP
The stock 5.7 (which I'm replacing due to a cracked block) is 260hp..

So I bought a rebuild able 86 Searay 20' with an OMC 5.7 4v and a cobra drive. The lower drive was already in pieces and looks damaged. I've read Omc drives aren't worth saving, so what's the best choice for me here. Replace the lower unit? Replace the entire drive? Which drive would make a good...
I Bought a 86 Sea Ray 21 foot to restore. The engine (5.7l) has had it. I'd like some input on whether there is a better choice to put in it.
Would it be worth putting a lighter engine in it with similar HP? (this boat will never see salt water)
