First of the engine is a 2013 Mercruiser 5.0 MPI with a Bravo3 drive and 150 hours.
-When the boat has been sitting for the week it starts right up
-When the boat has been sitting over night after running the day before it starts but takes a few cranks of the engine to get going
-When the...
I think I may have the wrong prop pitch on my boat and was wondeirng if I should go up or down.
About the boat
2013 Bayliner 255CR 6,800lbs dry with 5.MPI making 260HP running Bravo 3. 30MPH is about 4KRPM
This issue:
I know the boat is a bit underpowered t begin with. I have to pretty much...
Last season I noticed some gear lube in my bilge. I could never find where it was coming from. On the last trip of the season I took the top screw off of the outdrive (bravo 3) and oil came out. I was good to go. I did my 160 mile trip but each way I had to fill up the reservoir, it had all...
Some of you may remember some of my other threads on this. Basicailly my gear lube reservoir is emptying its self in the bilge. The hose, reservoir and quick connect fitting are not leaking. I change the quick connect fitting that connects to the through transom part with no luck. There is no...
I have a flush system that allows me to turn off the raw water and bypass it with hose water. My question is does the B3 drive need to be in the water or can I run the motor via the flush system while its on the trailer?
I know some of the older ones had issues with corrosion but are the newer ones any better? Do all of the newer B3 include a mercathode system? Will the boat being slipped in brackish water instead of salt make a huge difference?
Use marine varnish like shrew said, it will offer the UV protection. Traditional Polly like the yellow can in Home Depot will crack and turn yellow over time if left in the sun. With that said it will be all about the prep work. If you want a good shine then lightly sand BY HAND with 1,000 grit...
Some of you may remember last year my bilge was filled with gear lube. I went ahead and replaced the fitting that I think was leaking(22-861163 QUICK CONNECTOR) but if its not the fitting than its the Through transom fitting (22-861150T02 - FITTING ASSEMBLY) which from what I have been reading...
Any comments on my flushing contraption before I install it? It lets me turn off the raw water, attach a garden hose and flush the engine while in the water.

So with a racore or spin on type filter if you get water in your fuel there is a way to drain it. With my lovely over engineered Gen 3 Cool Fuel module I don't see how to drain water if its in the fuel. Can anyone shed some light on this?
So just got myself a slip. Below is the list of things I am contemplating. Any input would be helpfull
1. Bottom paint: I think I need a barrier coat and a red and then black bottom paint coat. Is one brand better than another?
2. Outdrive paint: Do I need to do anything here? Should I paint...
In preperation of slipping the boat next season I would like to convert my Bravo 3 from the drive water pickup to a through hull. I have one for the A/C already and it is in a good location. Can I just Y it off so one hose goes to the water pump and the other to the AC? They would never be run...
I am just wondering. Do all sterndrives have constant issues or did I just hit some bad luck with my boat. I bought it bran new in Febuairy of 2013 since then.
-Upper end of the B3 ourdrive had an issue causing a gear tooth to break off destroying the upper drive. A bit of a fight with the merc...
