    I would like to add tilt and trim to my motor, what is the best way to go. I have seen a minkota unit for about $500. I asked a local repair shop and he says you can't do it, Merc only goes down to 30HP. :confused:

    Gap for points and Magneto setting for 1953 3hp evinrude.

    Can someone tell me the settings for the gap on the points and the Magneto for an old 3hp Evinrude. I can't seem to find a repair manual for a 53. The farthest they go back on most sights is 56.<br /><br />Trying to get the old girl running again.

    I have an old Evinrude which was handed down to me after my fathers passing. The serial number is 3012-70016.
