My little runabout is a 14ft KC Thermoglass with a nice old 40hp Evinrude Lark that I have partly restored...my problem is that the cable steering on the runabout is rubbish and keeps coming off the spiral drum behind the steering wheel...so it is not very reliable or safe...

My runabout has a solid floor with no holes or cutouts in it,so Iam reluctant to get out the jigsaw and cut a big hole for a bilge pump. Can I just mount the pump on the floor at the back, beneath the engine area..? Iam sure this will...

I have checked over my impeller and it is OK...put it all back together to try it out and mainly steam comes out of the outlet opening with spurts of hot water..and then after a few minutes the engine hot light comes on..
The thermostat is opening OK but I dont think there is...
