    Broken Skeg

    I have a '96 115hp Merc. My sons used the boat that this motor is mounted on and when they returned it I noticed that about 1/2 the skeg was broken off. I will be getting this repaired, but I am curious this there any other function to the skeg besides giving a measure of protection to the prop?

    My '87 Force 85hp motor is not circulating water. I changed the impeller and it made no differance. I thought maybe there was a blockage in the system. So while the motor was running I ran water into the inlet ports on the lower unit. No water circulated it just came out of the mating surface...
