    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Here is the stern. Still have to hit the corners where the blocks are currently. I'll do that once I move it back to the trailer. Here is the port side. You can see where I stopped about 2/3rds up from the stern. Here are the little scratches. I did some looking at the starboard side and...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Lots happening over the last week. I bought a drill eraser wheel to remove the "Crownline" decals on both sides and the multiple pinstripes that went down both sides. It worked pretty well. For small things, I think the heat gun worked better but for these things the wheel was the ticket. On...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

One tip I saw on youtube to pass along. To remove the various stickers and decals I used a heat shrink gun to soften up the material and they came right off. On some of the tougher decals I used a paint scraper along with the heat gun to get them off.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Finished all the hull patching. The spectrum color patch paste was really good to work with and I got my technique down after a while. I found that putting a "dap" of paste on the damaged area then pulling a metal paint scraper across the top to get a smooth, flat surface worked well. Followed...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Manged to get the boat on blocks yesterday. The trailer has bunks so getting it enough forward to get the rear blocks in place was difficult. I can see how the technique @Pmt133 used would be pretty simple with rollers. Here's what I did... I lifted up the rear with an engine hoist and a...

I like this. Where did you place the rear blocks? Seems like you'd need to be away from the centerline to get stability with the 3 points.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Gelcoat patch kit from Spectrum Color came in and I started working on the hull. I've probably got 60-ish bad spots that I've used the die grinder to clean out and smooth. I was able to get about 40 of them filled with patch and have started sanding them down to be smooth with the hull. I've got...

    Exhaust to Gimbal Connection

OK, that's what I referred to as the shifter cable in my post. I replaced it 2 years ago so all good. Thanks for the clarification.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

FYI... got an answer from the engine forum. It's 92-25234 Sound blanket glue, but this has been superseded by Bellows adhesive 86166Q1. It's in the materials list in the manual but not in the actual instructions.

    Exhaust to Gimbal Connection

Thanks! I also see it now in the materials list but no mention of it in the instructions. There was a good bit of whatever was on it originally (I assume it was the sound blanket glue) so I'll do the same with bellows adhesive. I've replaced the shifter cable, bellows, piping, etc so should be...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Have not cleaned up the surfaces yet but no obvious issues. I'll get the surfaces cleaned up this weekend and recheck for issues. I posted over in the engine forum as well.

    Exhaust to Gimbal Connection

I'm getting towards the end of a restore on a '95 Crownline (see thread) and have a question about the exhaust connection to the gimbal housing. The service manual does not show any kind of adhesive or liquid gasket being applied but mine clearly had something applied. I have the replacement...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

The Permatex ultra blue is rated to 400 so I would hope that is plenty high enough. I guess I'll do it dry and cross my fingers. Service manual doesn't say to use anything so it makes sense. The fact that there was something on it is what got my attention.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Starting to clean up the gimbal housing, transom plate, etc and getting all the new gaskets, etc on order. Regarding the exhaust pipe connection to the gimbal housing, I'm ordering a new gasket but there was clearly some type of "liquid gasket" used as well. I don't see anything in the service...
