    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Starting to think more about the engine now that the inside is getting close to done. One thing I'm looking at is adding an oil drain hose. I'm assuming the idea is to connect it to the oil pan in the drain plug hole, then run it through the garboard drain to empty the oil when changing. I see...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Last night was gel coat time. Covered everything except the bilge and transom which I'll do next. Did 3 coats, mostly with a 9" roller. There are a couple of spots I'm not 100% happy with which I'll sand and touch up when I do the bilge. Overall, pleased with the outcome. Plan is to put SeaDek...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Got all the floor mounted items for seat pedestals, battery, hydro pump, etc glassed in over the weekend. I've decided to use 1" square aluminum extrusions to build a frame for the sidewalls next to the engine and the frame that holds up the cushioned hatch above the engine compartment...

Dry fitting the gimbal housing and the transom plate are coming up on the agenda. New gaskets are on their way. Fingers crossed... I was also looking at the drain plug. It appears there is some kind of sealing material was around it but it wasn't a gasket of any kind. Is it just sealed with...

The bases are 2 - 3/4" marine plywood (left overs from my stringers) glued together. I'm going to use 1.5" screws going down into the base and put 5200 on them. The holes in the pedestal are 3/8" so there will be 6 heavy duty screws holding it down. I thought about doing the bolt through but...

I thought about doing something similar at first. But I was having nightmares about screwing it up and having to do a major transom fix so I dropped the $25 on the guide.

Cut, glued and install all the various floor mount pieces. I did 2 for the main seat pedestals, 2 for attaching the hinged bench seat in the rear, 4 "spacers" on the sides that the side panels attach to at the bottom, 2 battery trays and the hydraulic pump beside the engine. I need more resin...

I see my match on the spectrum color website. I'll give that a try. The hull needs some cosmetic TLC but that's a "later" project.

Need some advice on how to address a number of "chips" on the outer hull. There are 15-20 of these in various places. The picture is one of the larger ones and is fingernail size. Many of them are half this size. The damage appears to only be the surface layer. What's the best way to fix these?

Glassed the deck with 2 layers of CSM. That was a sticky mess for sure. There are a couple of spots I need to sand down but overall pleased with the result. Surprise, surprise... I ended up using more resin than I expected. I only have about 3/4 of a gallon left. Don't think that's quite enough...

There were 32 compartments to fill with 2 holes each... Blew my mind as well (along with my back & knees). I didn't realize there would be that many until I had been cutting holes for 30min and realized I had a ways to go.

Tank is installed. I ended up having to breakout the sawzall to narrow the rear cleat next to the engine compartment. I had dry fitted it but the gel coat ended up being just enough extra thickness to keep it from sliding in. That's what I get for trying to do the right thing. I did not want to...

Donuts are back in. I used a multi-tool with the grout removal head to take the foam off the top, it worked great. Then I used a die grinder with a cylindrical bit to grind out the hole. Also worked great. Used PB to secure the donuts. It was simple but tedious work considering there were 64 of...

Got the deck foamed in yesterday. My wife assisted which was a huge help. She was outside the boat mixing the foam and handing it to me inside the boat. Not having to jump in - out - in - out... was very nice. I was getting nervous about running out of foam when I was about half way done but I...

Tabbed in the deck and PB'd all the joints between deck boards. Weather is suppose to be great this weekend so hoping to complete the foaming and get the deck glassed over. Received my 3rd, and hopefully last, US Composite order today. When this is all done, I'll have to total up all the...
