Bravo 1 outdrive, shift cable pulls out when trying to shift in reverse. Is there some sort of clip that should lock the cable in place? I am trying to help a friend out.
I found this place and thought it was a good deal. They even include shipping. I will inform you of their work as soon as I get my V4 Evinrude back. powerhead rebuild
I have a 1986 Evinrude 110 V4 crossflow. I went out yesterday and could not get RPMs up. Still wanting to fish I idled to my spot. After getting there and putting some lines in the water I pulled the spark plugs thinking they were fouled (I am premixing oil and running the VRO to verify the pump...
I have been plagued with problems with my inboard tank. Removal is not an option as it is below a solid deck. The boat is an 1990 center console VIP. In rough water under power she draws water from the tank and clogs the filter. I tried draining the tank by lifting the bow and sucking the gas...
My 86 Evinrude shifts into forward quickly but reverse doesn't engage until the throttle starts picking up. My cable at the motor has no more adjustment. Do I need to remove the lower unit and adjust the shift rod up or down?
Thanks
Brian
I am working on an 99 225HP Evinrude. The top right piston cracked across the top in 2 places but did not hit the head. I am guessing water must have entered the cylinder? Or is there another possible problem someone knows about? I am honing the cylinder and ordering a piston and gaskets to put...
The timing advance on my 86 crossflow seems to stick when I throttle down. I think it causes my idle to stick a little high. Is this common and is there a simple fix? Thanks.
I just removed the water jacket and bubble exhaust manifold from my motor. One of the diverters on my block was melted thru allowing that cylinder to vent straight out the exhaust. Should I replace this part? I heard someone here say that they could be left out. It seems to me that would reduce...
I have an 86 110 in need of a rebuild (broken oil line caused a piston to melt). I think I will lose the VRO and premix. I also have a friends 120 down that fried a rod bearing and wasted the crank. Bad for him but spare parts for me. I have 2 questions here. First, his motor has rubber blocks...
I need to rebuild my motor due to a burnt piston. I intend on using a used piston and new rings. What other modifications can anyone suggest while this motor is torn down. I also need to replace the lower crank bearing due to the plastic race cracking. I remember seeing a post about replacing it...
It seems to pour when it rains. Went and charged my batteries to get some fishing in before I fixed my charging system. The boat would not fire over. Pulled the plugs and to my horror # 2 had aluminum shavings on it. I guess I also burnt a piston as the compression is weak now. My question is...
Everyone seems to stress fresh fuel here (under 30 days). Well what do you recomend to keep it fresh with a large (40 gal) inboard tank. I run the boat aboat once a week now till the weather gets too cold. Should I run the tank low or keep her full with a stabilizer?
