It overheated really quickly. Like in half the time it takes to get to normal temp (160), it was way above that with the alarm sounding. Max temp was almost 200. When I pulled the two hoses that lead to/from the RWP, coolant from the winterization poured out, but seawater did not. I think...
with a rough start to the season, I set out to get the boat hauled to diagnose a slow power steering leak, the engine (5.7 GX I – D) over heated. Quick. I pulled the temperature sending unit and it seemed dry. I think the thermostat is not opening and am looking for a quick replacement so that I...
Conclusion:
I made an adaptor to get the single cable system to drive the cable/pulley bracket. I can still remove the outboard easily and even tilt. I used two pieces of 3/8 inch threaded rod welded by one piece of 3/8 inch rod. Bolts and washers hug the bracket "chain links" and a bolt and a...
Here's an attempt at better pictures.
Also, do you see how far the cable is from the motor mount? It puts quite a strain when trying to get them closer.
Thank you for trying to help me out!
The spring wasn't broken but DANG it's hard to get back in.
I found this video that describes the problem I was having and how to fix it. I hope it helps someone in the future.
one more question: am I getting this kit for the adaptor or for the mounting arm? Because the steering cable is mounted to the transom by a mount similar to the one in this kit.
Thank you, Chris1956! I would have never got there by myself. Have you seen a picture of what I'm aiming for?
I ended up finding one at marinepartssource.com for 144 and with a reasonably priced 2 day shipping, I should be able to get this ready before we head out for my kid's spring break...
can someone point me to the proper pull cord replacement procedure please?
I wound the "flywheel" a bit to provide some extra tension, and wound the cord around but after a couple of pulls, the cord flopped at the last foot or so.
I got this Evinrude Sportwin 10 with a recent purchase of a Wooster Hellion boat (bucket list!) and can't make sense of how to hook up the steering cable to the outdrive. The unpainted tab with thumb screw comes off but I don't see how it would attach to the end of the steering cable (seen in...
I have a Seaward F-600 water heater that is likely original to 2003. The water from it smells like rotten metal.
1) does this indicate that the heater has gone tango uniform? something else?
2) any experience with Kuma vs Seaward brand water heaters? there seems to be a ~$100 price difference.
I disagree with some of the sentiment on this thread. Many trickle chargers are less than one watt and do just fine keeping the battery topped off, if that's what you are after. Average resting discharge rate is well below that level.
