Can anyone shed light on where to markers are, either they have been corroded away or im looking in the wrong place.
I can see the marker that protrudes the engine but nothing else beneath, is the scribed line/marker on the pulley wheel itself?

Im wanting to remove the tilt mechanism completely from the transom, ive removed all bolts in order to do so but it wont budge, any ideas on how to get it out? Perhaps try to work it upwards by tapping the round flat section on the outside that disengages the arm?

Hi all
Today i had a go at removing the upper gear housing from the intermediate housing, drained oil, removed the bolts and nuts, hose clamp etc.
I read on this site in another thread its meant to lift straight up, i can only get it to move 1-2mm upwards away from the intermediate housing...
Does anyone know if am i able to lift my 280 out drive up out way manually and somehow lock it, i need to do this so i have clearance when removing the boat from the water on a slip way, i really dont want to risk scraping the outdrive on the concrete floor!!
Perhaps lift it up by hand and use...
