    91 johnson 4hp deluxe year?/change pinion gear to a metal one?

    Just picked up a nice little motor. Want to verify the year, the model number is; J4RDHEIA.Is that a 1991, or as the serial number may show (B08806530), a Belgium made 1988? Also the plastic pinion gear is kind of interesting/scary, any way or need to change that set up to a metal one? Thanks!

    Hey guys want to find out the year of a mercury I'm considering on buying, number is;4802937. And can the shaft lenght be determined by the serial number? Thanks! 4.5hp The owner of the motor measured 30 inches from the bottom of the case to the tip of the skeg.
