9.5 evinrude, 1968 - runs great when it runs but at any moment it could just die. I squeeze the ball on the gas tank and it is soft. I was running wide open and I kept squeezing the ball I made it back to the landing. I am not great at this stuff. any ideas?
Purchased a used motor - got it running after replacing needle and seat, fuel line to carb which was leaning on spark plug and had a hole burnt in it. Replaced thermosat and checked lower unit. The problem is one that seems to come and go. When I run the motor with the cover off it runs great...
