Looking at a boat wt one of these thats been used wt a kicker for fishing are they good reliable engines..don't know anything about Yamaha engines ..all answers are greatly appreciated..Bruce
looking at a boat with 1999 johnson 90 hp. She thinks it's a 4 stroke, going to see it monday.Any thoughts on reliability? I've read that some of this year may have substandard parts that were used but don't know what models or hp's. said it runs good and last year wasn't starting well mechanic...
I read an old thread from "inlineal" sept 2005 talking about the 1988 / 1989 mercs being the big bores made from the V6 parts. He said they are almost indestructable..im looking at an 1989 ser # oa743765 anyone else have an opinion about these motors..good or bad..and is disconnecting the oil...
Looking to by a boat with 1985 johnson 75hp. Guy said he ran lower end w/o oil. had it fixed -new bearings and seals, pressure tested very good -claims to have all receipts. IS IT LIKELY that there is more damade to gears and shafts. he has it running. Any ideas as to what to look ot listen for...
