Ok I feel like a noob asking this. Here is what I assume, please tell me if I?m wrong. The Shift Cam in the lower unit, in the three positions the first or (highest point) is Forward, Second notch is neutral and lowest point being reverse. Is this Right?

Ok I just finished rebuilding my 1984 80hp motor:) for the first time.
Now im tring to put it back to on the motor assemble and can not for the life of me align the Shifting linkage. Anyone have a trick to get this thing aligned up so i can bolt it back together.:mad:

Hey all I have '84 Mercury 80 horse outboard. My question is can i remove the Propeller shaft and Bearing Carrier without droping the lower unit and if so how do i disengauge the shaft and carrier to pull them out. I need to replace the o-ring and oil seal in and around the Carrier.
