1970's GM 165 L6 250 - I finally got fuel to and through the fuel pump and through the (now rebuilt) carb. Got the engine running for the first time!
Started to go for tune-up, following the steps outlined in my service manual. Plugs cleaned & gapped to specs, and on to compression testing...
Okay, I rebuilt my carb on my 1974 Merc 165 L6 250, and found one of the idle needles had its tip broken off and stuck in the seat. I figured I'd be able to find replacement needles pretty easily. Nope! Any suggestions as to where I can go for a replacement? ebay search yielded nothing.
Rebuilt my carb tonight - looks pretty good (not that I really could tell the difference!) but when I took it out, I discovered that the choke heat pipe is broken about an inch above where it connects to the manifold. It was covered by the cancer-cloth sheath. I've found the part (pipe) listed...
