    Johnson 112 vs 90 questions..

Racerone, is thar the only way to tell if the powerhead is actually a 112? Don't get me wrong, I do want to know what the engine is, was just hoping for a less involved way of verifying. I will definitely do as you suggested if there's not an easier way. It is for sure a bubble back, btw..

    Johnson 112 vs 90 questions..

I dont know exact weight, but its 18' x 80" and super deep. Was originally a coastguard vessel that I stumbled upon. Built like a tank. When my 90 was in its prime, I'd see 31mph at 5500. I'm hesitant to run the 112 that high until the 20 hr break in is done... but like I'd said previously, I...

    Johnson 112 vs 90 questions..

I havent checked compression yet. I'll do that tomorrow. It's got 13 hrs on it now, so I only got it up to 5500rpm's for maybe 5 seconds, just to check top end. Everything I've read tells me to run for a 20hr break in before really holding the rpm's up. It just seems that 22 more hp would be...

    Johnson 112 vs 90 questions..

    I do have a tach.. at 5500rpm I'm getting about 31mph, same as the 90hp got. Should i change to a different prop? Pretty sure it's a 13.5 x 17 SST

    Johnson 112 vs 90 questions..

For almost 15 years I ran a 1996 90spl on my boat, a double wide & deep all weld aluminum tunnel hull. Ended with a crack in the block. Bought a used 1994 112, had a remanufactured power head installed, am using the same prop from the 90, and see no noticeable difference in power or top end...

    Motor swap help

I am swapping motors, from a 1998 Johnson 90hp SPL to a 1994 Johnson 112 SPL.. The wiring doesn't match. Last year I replaced the start/shifter on the 90, just before it lost compression in #3 cylinder. I'm hoping to use the new start /shifter with the 112. The wiring harness from the 112 has a...

    wrecked piston

Facing from the rear, the lower right piston is pretty shot. looks like i took a chipping hammer to it & the matching head. cylinder walls do not look visibly damaged but show little to no cross-hatching remaining. Couple of questions - Is rebuilding even an option? If so, could a (somewhat)...

    New Powerhead?

So, after lots of work on my 1998 Johnson 90hp SPL, and still having idling issues, I took it to a shop. They told me the #4 cylinder was @75# & the other 3 are at 125. Kinda surprised me because when i did compression tests on it all 4 were between 107 & 115. But I may have not been doing it...

    Battery Not Charging

My 98 90hp Johnson is only putting out about 0.5volts from the stator. It keeps the motor running, but the battery died on me yesterday after a half day/all night trip. Only ran the Q-Beam for about 5 mins so i dont believe that was the issue.

98 johnson 90hp crossflow has me stumped, again...

Ok.. so I replaced both thermo's, impellar assy, & water diverters, has strong weep flow. But.... overheats after initial start up, on the water. Wont overheat with muffs at home. Then after a minute or 2 at cruising speed, cools to normal & stays cool while running or at extended idle ( in gear...
