Man, it's been a long time since i have posted......boat has been sitting for 2 years almost. Last time boat was used was July 2015. I started it last year, then never used it. Winterized it and then started it again just yesterday. Have knocking noise when engine is tilted in mid to higher...
Okay, everything went great with my bellows and gimbal bearing and trim sender/limit replacement. I threw the lower unit back on, greased everything up and then went to start this sucker up. Feeling really proud of myself for diving in and doing this whole shebang, i was ready to hear the 3.0...
i hammered away at the gimbal bearing yesterday and i thought i was going in pretty straight until i couldn't get it to go in anymore. I have the alignment tool where you put a hole through the tool for the gimbal bearing adapter the screws throught it so with me pounding on it, you would think...
I just installed new sierra trim switches and just want to know if i need to reinstall the lower unit first to test and adjust or can i do it with the unit off? Which is most common or the correct way?
thx
This will be the first time for me putting the drive back on, so how does one keep the larger flat seal in place when installing? I will be using bellows adhesive for the water hose o-ring to keep that in place, but for the larger seal what does everyone use?

I have the sierra brand switches and on both ends of the wire on each switch the bullet connectors are basically...

thx in advance.
Can anyone tell me if i have to use the red lock tite again on the hinge pins when putting the bellhousing back on the gimbal ring or do i have another alternative?
Working on my '91 alpha 1 Gen 2 mercruiser tonight and I was about to get started on changing my ujoint bellows and replacing my trim senders but i cannot get the lead wire to come off of the bell housing as the screw head is stripped. This is the wire that is attached to the port side gimbal...
Good day. i have a 91 merc alpha 1 gen 2 and I have ordered all my parts for the mentioned replacement. My exhaust bellows is ripped and upon further inspection i noticed that the ujoint bellows is starting to fray just a little as i can see a bit of the spiral wire. The boat used to be used...
