    Shaft Lenght?

    I'm confused about the length of a 73-18hp Evinrude's shaft, does not fall into the category of short 15'' or 20'' long, I took a reading of 18'', what shaft is this? I'm sure I got it right, measured from top of the mounting clamp bracket to bottom of the cavitation plate still can't get 15''...

    What number on the Id sticker is the color code? 73 evinrude 18hp?

    Rusty Bolts

    I was thinking to replace a few rusty bolts on an older Evinrude, but some of these bolts are part of the head, my question is if I remove these bolts from the cylinder head, to install new ones, is there any chance of a head gasket leak because I got them loose? What if I replace one at a time?

    Boat size

    What's the maximum boat weight I can use with an 18hp outboard two stroke? I want to be able to plane and carry 2 or 3 adults, something like a 15 ft Boston Whaler or similar? I was also thinking a large aluminum 16 to 18ft deep V, I fish the near shore in the ocean, when calm.

    Newbie here! Can someone help me with two different Evinrudes, one is a 92- 9.9hp two stroke, the other one a 73- 18hp two stroke also.
