    launch procedure

Received this in an email just a while ago. Don't know who it is or what is going on, but here's what came with it He just bought a new boat and decided to take her for the maiden voyage. This was his first boat and he wasn't quite sure of the exact Standard Operating Procedures for launching...

    Sea Era boats?

My cousin asked me for help, he's looking at a boat a friend of his is selling. The seller is very motivated and will probably let it go under value. I did not see any paper work on it. It's called a Sea Era. It appears to be about 23' or so center console fishing with a Mercury 250 efi, salt...

    winch strap bolt?

OK, I want to know how common of a problem this is or is it just me? After reconditioning my trailer I wanted to replace my cable with a strap (on the winch, seems like the trendy thing to do). The bolt that came with my new strap did not hold up to the task, it buckled when I cranked the boat...

    soundproofing

What is the best material to replace the foam sound proofing in the engine cover, and where can I get it? My old stuff is detoriating and I'm afraid it might get in the carbs. BTW my freshly rebuilt 1998 120 is running like a new motor, I even changed the graphics.

outboard deli ma (what would you do?)

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1998 Force 120. I had a really tough time deciding weather to rebuild or just buy a used outboard. I searched locally, as well as ebay. A 9 or 10 year old outboard in good condition would be in the 2800 to 4000 dollar range. Then of course the controls and...

Cheaper to Keep 'er (R/R powerhead)

Well after all said and done, I decided to get a new powerhead from Power Exchange right here in my home town. This should solve all known issues with this thing once and for all (I hope). In fact it should be like having a brand new Force ...imagine that! I'm giving the lower unit a going over...

shaft length on a 120 (pic)

Would any one know what the shaft length is on my 1998 Force 120? I may be bidding on a new motor tonight and my boat is not here. Do the come in one length or could it be a 20" or a 25"?

Ever lose a boat while trailering?

I posted this on another forum, but it fits this topic best. This hits on one of my greatest boating stories and it is absolutely true! In the late 1980's I owned a 15' boat with a 65HP motor. The trailer was an old home made trailer. It was well made, but was not galvanized, just painted. On...

    Fuel pump test

I am testing my fuel pump by disconnecting the fuel line going into the carburetor and then cranking the engine (with plugs disconnected). I just wanted to get an idea if it is working normally. How much fuel should flow out of the line? All my filters were just changed and squeezing the bulb...

My wonderful Force (updated with pic)and new issues

I am lucky enough to own one of those wonderful force engines. Mine is a 1998, 120 horsepower. I have a little mechanical experience and don't mind working on my own stuff (good thing). I have had this motor (and boat) for two years and this is some of what I have done so far in that time...
