Just got back online. To answer some questions: it is a 2001 Dragonfly 920 (30'). Other Dragonflies of this year and model average $90K-$110K. Boat was on jacks when it got hit by another boat in the yard during a hurricane- got holed just above the waterline by the jack. Didn't sink or take on...
The boat is a little rare- a folding trimaran (2001) built in Denmark, but available in limited quantity in the US. It checks a number of boxes that other boats don't. Plan to sail in the Chesapeake Bay. I called/ emailed a couple surveyors- only response so far is "it's out of our area". I plan...
I had a 1978 Merc 150, replaced the water impeller, etc.- no joy. The fix was to take weedwhacker line and run it backwards thru the pee hole to clear an obstruction. Of course mine was 20 years older than yours, so not sure the fix applies (don't recall having a thermostat). Good luck!
Looking to buy a high performance sailboat with a salvage title. Would prefer to have it surveyed (since it's $40K), but no surveyors are near seller's landlocked area (and I'm 7 hours away). I inspected the boat and saw no glaring issues (but I'm no fiberglass expert). Boat had new paint job so...
A work in progress: gas tank & flywheel removed. Had a little oil coming out of the seal at the spark plug end- not sure how to seal that (uses copper or brass ring?).
I have a MONO brand outboard (Think it's from mid-1960s). Runs rough, so I am trying a tune-up. Metal tag says it's a Tecumseh T-635-06A (2 stroke, one cylinder). Thinking it might be similar to an Eska Golden Jet 600, although the carb might be different. Can't find specs for it: need correct...
That's a great idea to check for leaks using a little air pressure!
Not sure how lucky I will be getting that base off- I tried for quite a while before putting it back together. I might test with motor muffs- if I get water in the lower unit, it's time to tear it all apart again. Is the only...
Hi, new here. I changed out the impeller on my 1978 mercury 1400 outboard, but am having trouble getting the water pump base out. Had water in my lower unit, so I figured I'd look at the oil seals under the water pump base, and change out that last gasket and O ring. I tried prying the base out...
