I have a 1976 Johnson 115 "sea horse". I'm at my ends with it.. Smash the throttle and will scat, runs great for about 15 seconds or so and then dies down and runs rough at slightly above idle with throttle still wide open. I can back off and let it idle a few minutes and can do it again...
