With batteries connected for at least 4 tides! Carbs looked burnt (and pitted) inside the float chambers, and were full of white goo (think icing sugar mixed with vaseline!).
So some sort of electrolytic reaction, low level combustion had gone on in there. Plus number 4 carb has one butterfly...
