    backfire mercruiser

    I have a 140 i/o 1986 It will start but it back fires through the carb (I think) It is a popping sound doesn't run long I have replaced the coil. I have tried to adjust the timing no no avail. It pops with every revolution pop pop pop pop pop sounds like a lawnmower with no baffle please help...

    boggs at full throttle

    I have a 1986 140 mercruiser. It runs great but at full throttle it boggs down it sounds like it is running out of gas. I have changed the fuel filters, anti syphon valve, cleaned the carb, flame arrestor, changed the points, plugs, the problem doesn't happen all the time. but it still does...
