Anyone ever use one of these engines in their Mercruiser?
There is not a Harmonic Balancer & Flywheel included. So there's a cost.
The only change (that I can see) would be to pull the steel freeze plugs and install brass.
Then just build up with marine-rated components.

Not sure, but I believe the PO used J.B. Weld to repair the gimble bearing area around the 4 to 6 O'clock position.

In process of rebuilding my 2BBL Mercarb. It's going well. This Carb is quite simple and I have had no trouble so far.
One question:
My Carb had the solid plunger for the needle valve in the bowl. The kit came with both the solid and the smaller spring loaded plunger.

I would expect the engine mounts woud have to be moved some. My boat had the option for the V8 and I know there is plenty of room. But is it a do-able project or just a huge pain in the butt?

Simple question:
If you back-fill all the exaust manifolds with Anti-Freeze,
Do you run the risk of filling up a cylinder with A/F that might have the exaust valve open?
Or is there a flapper of some sort that prevents this. I have yet to take apart a marine engine yet, so I am not sure.
