Sorry yeah I guess what I thought was a distributor is a generator. I didn't have to remove the flywheel but did have to pull the starter and generator. Got it going really nice now. Thanks for the replies.
HI, I have to either clean or rebuild the carb on my 67 Evinrude 40hp motor. I haven't worked on it yet and noticed that looks like I have to remove the starter and distributer to get the carb off. I am asking if there's a trick or a way to get it off without all that. Thanks
OK, thanks guys. Just yesterday my wife suggested that I pull the 4.3 from the Bluewater that I bought last year. Got the boat and trailer for $200, just had to change the fuel pump and rebuild the carb and it runs like a champ. But the interior and floor is shot in it. We've been using it as...
Yeah I did get back to the guy via offerup the way I purchased it. He just said "oh well that's news to me, it was running when I parked it" complete bologny, but I got no real recourse. Yeah I'll tear into the mounting and check the floor better, seems solid, but I'll look further. I have had a...
Ok, I just found one out of an '80 Camaro. Comes with a bunch of extra parts I won't need...a couple of different intakes 4bbl and 2bbl etc. How hard is it to change these things out? I have done several automotive engine swaps in my time, and I have done quite a bit of work on these...
I'm just South of Seattle Washington. I'm looking around haven't found anything local yet. I'm gonna keep looking though I really want this boat to run.
The floor and transom are solid. Oh yeah. I tried to turn it over after putting my compression tester in cylinder one...the thing is frozen up. The starter clicked in hard when I first turned the key, then just buzzed after that. I took all the plugs out and tried to turn it around by hand and...
Hi, I just bought a 1973 Tri Hull "Enterprise" boat. I had told the guy I wanted to hear it turn over before purchase, but somehow I ended up buying it without trying to start it. He told me he drained the oil at the end of last season in the "winterizing" process. I know that draining the oil...
Thanks for the info. It has new points, condenser, coil, plugs and wires...I haven't had a chance to check the timing. That's what I am going to do today. BTW I have a ? About the vent on the valve cover...the spark arrestor I was able to find...had the have the 2-5/8" opening...it has no...
Hey. Got the carb kit and did the rebuild. Everything seemed to have went well. I reinstalled the carb and had some issues with the idle. After a while it seemed to work itself out. I had it running smoothly at 7-800 rpms. That's on the muffs obviously. I took the boat out and it fired up...
Yeah that's about the right size. I measured the bolts on mine and they were 3.25 x 1.75, but I was measuring with the carb on so I may be a little off. Thanks for the info! I am ordering the carb kit. Kind of disappointing I find the newer kits and they're like $9 and the one I need is $36. I...
I have acquired a 1971 Hydroswift with the 3.0 Liter Mercruiser in it. I need either to rebuild the carb or replace it. For the life of me I can not find the kit or the carb for it anywhere. Everyone I can find has the 3-1/2 x 2 bolt pattern and mine has the smaller pattern. I think I am only...
I recently purchased a 1985 Blue Water with the 4.3l v6 Mercruiser. It had been sitting for about 5 years. The fuel pump was rotted to pieces and the Holley 4160 carb was gummed up. I replaced the pump with an Amazon one and rebuilt the carb with the Amazon kit. I was very uneasy about the...
