Yes i just have the motor on a stand but after I shut the motor off it will go into gear. While its off I can not turn the prop and if I turn the flywheel by hand it will turn the prop so obviously its engaged when the motor is off and I'm not sure why when I shut it off in neutral

So run down on the engine, tested the solenoids and they were good, checked the button controls and fixed that wiring and all is good as it should be there now. Changed to the proper oil in the gear case....
