Thanks Lou, I've done the timing on it, set it to 2° ATDC as it said on the carburator air filter(Before doing timing, I checked the mark on the crank wheel and it was WAY back my guess about 25° BTDC at idle...) Ive also set the idle RPM to about +/- 750RPM. I than plugged the wires I bypassed...
Hello all my fellow boaters! Excuse my absence, got caught up with school work... Im sure you guys are all wondering if I got the boat to run... or well explode lol. Im happy to announce that its all running! I got it all running and dialed in on Saturday. Worked all day on it but it payed off...
Makes sense. When Im on the compression stroke both valves will be on the same level? Also what if I didnt rotate the engine at all when it was taken apart, can I just adjust them now? Or its a must to have every cylinder ATDC compression stroke?
Update picture almost there🙏
I went to the store and got the Permatex High Temperature Thread Sealant just to be safe. Already installed the head, hopefully I get it all done today.
I have a few questions about the pushrods and how to adjust them. Ive watched countless videos online, and a lot of people do it different...
Question about head bolts. So I think I'm going to reuse mine, they dont look stretched or rusted. I also showed the machine shop mechanic, where I had my head resurfaced and he said they are good to be reused. Also said they reuse head bolts all the time when rebuilding engines. Now, about the...
I've noticed that as well and I'm not sure if that's OEM or not... However I just got in the new gasket kit and I have som questions and posibble concerns... I took a side by side picture, and I've also placed the head gasket on the block. There are 4 small(circled in RED), they seem pretty...
LOL. Well I looked at it i didnt just take it off the block, I still inspected it it and took a look at all yhr valves which looked great to me, which they were. But yeah I mean I assume everybody took their heads to thr machine shop...
I've done the diagram yes with the measurements I got. And...
Thanks a lot for all the good info and support guys!!
A lot to reply to so I'll try to do it all in one post lol.
So I got a 90* carpenters square and I measured the block in every single way possible. Sideways, vertically, left, right, across, etc. 0.06mm was the lowest that would not go...
Little side note. I did find a set of bolts for a pretty good price compared to the other ones I found. Im guessing these should work and it doesnt matter what "color" they are?

Lol thanks, tried to be as neat as I could. Labbeled absolutely every sinlge wire.
That makes sense thanks a lot. I've cleaned the block with acetone, and scrapped away any debris and wiped the top of block and cylinder walls and pistons with WD40 just so it doesn't rust. I've also checked to...
I actually did that while I was cleaning the bolt threads, but with a tooth pick just so I dont damage anything around... But yeah there is absolutely nothing under the head bolts, it goes straight through to the block cooling system. Which makes me wonder if I should put something on the bolts...
Perfect thanks!
This is what the block looks like in between the two cylinders. Not sure how good you can see it but I'm assuming this is what fire slotted means?
Hey guys, so just finished taking it all apart. Here are some pictures. Thankfully the culprit is the head gasket lol. Also I inserted 2 pictures of the head bolts. Not sure how visible or what sort of inspection they need. I cleaned them up with acetone and they don't seem to have any rust or...
