    Thermostat direction 2.3 L Cobra OMC

    Quick question, which direction does the spring end of the thermostat go , toward the transom ( engine) or the hoses ( front) ? The manual shows towards the front while everything I find on the web says the spring end goes towards the engine. Also does the cork gasket go in before the thermostat...

    Being new to a I/O , a Forester 160 Sport 1989 with a 2.3 Cobra . My Blower motor is starting to squeal.
