should the gear on the starter (bendix) be locked into the flywheel when motor is off? Most I've seen are only locked to start then fall below.

When I turn the key the motor makes one click and thats it. I swithched the batteries around and tried to start it with the battery for the trolling motor but still the same thing. Trolling motor ran on the motors battery. I looked at all the wires nothing seemed damaged.

More problems with 2000 40hp tracker. it would only run at idle speed so I replaced the throttle cable thaught the problem was fixed ran good on the muffs. When I put it in the water and tried to back it off the trailer it wouldn't move and would stall unless I put it back in neutral.

Just purchased a 2000 40 hp tracker took it out first time it overheated. I took it in and after almost a month they replaced the water pump. Now it doesn't overheat it starts fine but when I push the throttle it won't go any faster than idle speed.
I don't want to take it back in if I can...
Motor starts great but won't get any faster than idle speed If anyone can give some ideas of where to start looking for the problem that would be great.

I added oil 50-1 to my gas not realizing the motor was oil injected. The motor ran for an hour then wouldn't restart. Is this the cause and what should I do?
