    5.7merc,carbed, surges and wont idle

    Hello all, 5.7 1996, thunderbolt V merc cruiser, 2 barrel carb: Rebuilt the carb in May, ran great for 2 tanks of gas. The boat sat for 6 weeks and now it surges at 1200 thru 2600 rpm, I see gas dripping from right jet looking down at the carb at mid range rpm. It won't idle or holds at 500...

    THUNDERBOLT V, without a knock sensor

    I have a 5.7, 1996 thunderbolt V, and I cant find the knock module, no wiring harness, nothing is there. Is this not on all t-bolt V's, or could it be mounted in an other location, not behind the distributor? The repair book shows it, the engine cove says it is a thunder bolt V and it is carburetor.

    5.7, 1996, valve chatter @3000rpms

    I have a 5.7, 1996, thunderbolt V, with valve chatter (it sounds like on the right side) at 3000 rpms while under load only; runs good in the drive way. I have replaced: water separator, plugs, cap and rotor, and timed it at base timing 10 degrees btdc. How can I troubleshoot this?

    1996 5.7 timing light jumps around

    I have a 5.7, 1996 thunderbolt V ignition, timed it with the purple w/white tracer to ground. after I removed the jumper from ground the timing light jumps around. Is this normal? The engine runs good in the drive way but knocks under load at 3000 rpms.

    5.7 knocks under load

    I have a 1996 5.7, mark 5 ignition, and it knocks at 3000 rpm while under load only. I changed the spark plugs and timing and it still knocks. What could it be?
