Sorry, I'm wondering if it something wrong in the shifter.. neutral switch or something like that.. I tried it the way you said and I get a click and a sort of like a quiet whistling sound from the slave sylenoid area. Does that make any sense?

I am new to boating. I just bought an older boat its a 1989 Imperial 2150 with a 4.3 mercruiser and I'm trying to start it and all I get is a click from the sylenoid. Any help would be appreciated I have no idea what to look for. Thank you in advance
