    9.9 2 stroke ‘91 cooling issue

Barrel was plenty deep, about 3’ deep x 2.5’ wide, but not when prop moving… the flushing port would have been forced water and I wanted to see how water pump was working. You’d need a real test tank - oval shaped, or a test prop, two things I don’t have…

    9.9 2 stroke ‘91 cooling issue

Update: All is working. Took her for a Bay test - water flowing perfectly. Due to the fact that ‘Mickey Mouse ears’ can’t be used to flush this engine, I used a large garbage pail filled with water. THIS WAS THE PROBLEM; At neutral/ idle, the water flowed from telltale perfectly. When put...

    9.9 2 stroke ‘91 cooling issue

Did the air. If the vinegar and then acid didn’t do it, the engine would need to come off and would need to be disassembled to be cleaned. (1) bolt on exhaust and (2) bolts lower on the cylinder heads feel like they’ll be b*tchy to remove, with a high snap! probability.

    9.9 2 stroke ‘91 cooling issue

)&£¥>^* !!! Feel better already. Engine starts and runs perfect. Water flows out of telltale at idle, while in a large barrel. When put into gear, and brought to a higher RPM, the telltale stops flowing. When put back into neutral and idle, the tell tale will not return to function. Replaced...

Cool Fuel Pressure Regulator - Testing

I reinstalled the FPR and boat started right up after winterization. I'll check pressure again. The pump sounds louder than I remember, but it could just be that I'm focused on it.. If the pump/ cool fuel apparatus was in an easier location to get to, I'd of pulled it already. Hard to see...

Cool Fuel Pressure Regulator - Testing

If the fuel pressure tested 35 PSI with vacuum attached, does that sound within an acceptable range ? I just tested the FPR and it checks OK. Is it safe to say that once I reinstall the FPR, and disconnect the FPR vacuum, that it would bring me to 43 PSI ?

Cool Fuel Pressure Regulator - Testing

Engine is a 2003 5.7L 350/300HP. Narrowing down a low fuel pressure issue. Removed the cool fuel fuel pressure regulator ( a real bear to get to and remove ) A few questions: I'd like to test the fuel pressure regulator's function while out of the boat - is this possible ? If so, how do you...

Bravo 3 overheating - oil expansion

I'm back. I have been to Offshore Only - minimal recommendations - one good lead - the guy retired. Anyone have personal experience with East Shore Marine - Lindenhurst, or Pearl Grey in Amityville ? Thx

Bravo 3 overheating - oil expansion

Thanks for the replies ! I have maintained all since new - dropped drive each year, inspected oil, replaced gaskets/ rings etc. I have almost no electrolysis and I'm in the brine 7 months a year ( I spend many hours in Spring properly prepping drive for primer and antifouling - SS tabs are...

Bravo 3 overheating - oil expansion

Thank you all for your help. I returned a PM to metsfan - like everyone, he's trying to be super helpful. I wonder - what is the life expectancy of a Bravo 3 with light/ moderate use ?

Bravo 3 overheating - oil expansion

In your opinion, the drive should not be suspect ? I have read a lot about the overflowing Bravo 3 drive reservoir - there's info about the cap but also the possibility of something heating up internally, for example a bearing , enough to expand the drive fluid to the levels I'm talking about...
