    Runs great for an hour or so then stops

    I have a '83 Mercruiser 470 3.7 and it starts, idles, and runs fine for an hour or two and then if I go to idle it stops. I can get it started again but as soon as I put it in gear and try to power up it dies. I've changed the fuel, and fuel filter. Very frustrated.

    Merc 470 dies when put in forward

    This happened when I was putting the boat on a trailer. Put it in reverse to back out and realign. When I went to put it in forward the engine died. I still have reverse. I've tried adjusting shifting cables but when I have taken them off and pushed the lower cable in while someone was...
